Patriot Day Activities

Our Chargers spent the morning of 9/11 honoring and remembering the heroes who serve, while reflecting on the tragic events of that day in 2001. Students had the opportunity to meet and speak with police officers, firefighters, first responders, and other service members, gaining a deeper understanding of their sacrifices and dedication. Together, we paused to acknowledge the bravery and resilience shown in the face of adversity.

Constitution Day

Constitution Day was celebrated on September 17th with informational lessons, activities and projects. Students explored the definition of a constitution, watched videos about how the United States Constitution was created and implemented and then made relevant classroom connections by developing their own Classroom Contracts.  Students were part of the thorough process of advocating and clarifying what norms and behaviors should be set in their learning spaces. This aligns with both our Capturing Kids’ Hearts initiative as well as the democratic process!

Title 1 Curriculum Night

On Thursday, September 19th, CTA Elementary hosted its annual Fall Title 1 & Curriculum Night.  This is an evening dedicated to showcasing how our Title 1 funds are utilized to support student instruction and achievement as well as give parents a chance to get into classrooms and see what reading instruction looks like and sounds like.  We had a great evening, parents and staff loved the opportunity to connect, and we had 2 families win $50 Meijer Gift Cards at our raffle!

CTA Secondary Highlights

September was an incredible month here at Creative Technologies Academy for our Secondary buildings.  It was inspiring to see our Middle School students and our High School students working together, celebrating together, and competing together in so many areas.  One of the brightest highlights was our Homecoming 2024 week!

We had students and staff throughout the district who participated in Spirit Week by dressing up for the various theme days, it was amazing to see!  Our National Honor Society students were instrumental in visualizing, planning, and executing everything that week.  The Pep Assembly on Friday was a blast, it was fully student-led from our NHS.  The school spirit and charisma was on full display for a variety of games and class competitions that included a dance off, a donut eating contest, charades, and even a song lyric contest.  Our staff participated as well, it was so fun to have both our Middle School and High School together for this.

Later that Friday our Boys Soccer team and our Volleyball team (both Middle School and High School) represented us with class and dignity for our Homecoming games.  Saturday evening our Homecoming Dance was a huge success.  The auditorium had been decorated by NHS students and looked amazing.  It was a little warm in there but that did not slow down the dancing and fun had by all.  Thanks to all of our students and staff who made this possible.

We also hosted National presenter and speaker, Tree Beekman, who worked with all of the grade levels individually to discuss leadership and culture.  She is fantastic and the students were very receptive and shared great insights into how they hope to see CTA continue to evolve.

If September is any indication as to how the rest of the year will go for our Middle and High School students, it will be an amazing year.

Homecoming

Our 2024 Homecoming was held on Saturday, September 14 in our Auditorium! This year's theme was the Red Carpet. Our Volleyball & Soccer team both had home games the day before the dance in honor of our 2024 homecoming.

Culture Coaching with Tree

We were thrilled to have Tree Beeckman from Tree Roots on campus working with our 6th-12th grade students to strengthen our culture of connection. Tree and Secondary Principal Brett Zuver spent the day visiting each class, teaching the value of trust, appreciation, and leadership.

At CTA, we’ve always believed in creating a healthy, thriving culture where every Charger can be a world changer. This was another step in our ongoing journey to inspire and connect our students!
