This month’s character education work focused on respecting ourselves and others; we reviewed the important impact that showing respect has on our school community and beyond. Students have participated in activities about infusing more respect into our everyday lives during the middle school “Focused Instructional Team” (F.I.T.) and high school Advisory times.
We are so proud of our students for exhibiting exceptional respect!
On Tuesday, March 5th, the Elementary hosted a Spring Curriculum and Family Engagement night: “Under the Sea: Dive into Learning!” We had a fantastic turnout and families had a lovely time visiting all of the classrooms. Each room hosted a variety of learning games and activities to both showcase skills being taught and allow families to have FUN together. There were card games, word building games, math challenges, BINGO rounds, a sensory water table and even an Escape Room! Thank you to ALL who came out to make it an event to remember. Congratulations to Noah Elliott and Dalis Anderton for winning the Meijer Gift Card raffle, also!
Chargers celebrated reading ALL month long through a variety of activities and events. We kicked off the month with a full district D.E.A.R. quiet reading time; the halls of all 3 buildings were filled with readers! Students were encouraged to increase reading at home and at school by earning CandyLand board pieces to fill our halls ~ Reading is SWEET! Students could earn “Caught Being a Reader” tickets to enter in a drawing for free movie passes and we had several guest readers come to campus and share favorite books from their childhood.
Our spring session of Family & Teacher Conferences was an immense success. CTA values the role that families play in student achievement and well-being! We are grateful to have the opportunity to come together to share, celebrate, and strategize to ensure a successful end to the 2023-24 school year. Thank you to our staff, students, and families for meeting all together!
On March 27th, CTA’s eighth-grade class attended the MiCareer Quest 2024 Expo. MiCareerQuest offers West Michigan middle and high school students the opportunity to learn about careers in our region's high-demand industries through interactive experiences with local employers. Mrs. Tanis, our eighth-grade homeroom/middle school math teacher, has a passion for exposing students to the many career paths that exist today. We are excited that our Chargers were able to attend this event!
Our testing season starts on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 with the 8-11th grade students taking the PSAT/SAT. Later in April, students in grades 6-8th and 11th will take the M-STEP test. In May, the NWEA MAP testing window opens for students in grades 6-10th.
Knowing that testing season can often prove to be a challenge for students, we want to extend an advanced thank you to our families for supporting our students in doing their best on these assessments! The secondary staff and administration use this student data to plan for how to best support the growth of everyone in our school community!
