Red Flannel Weekend
Every year, our Charger families have such a fantastic time celebrating community and home town pride on Red Flannel weekend. At CTA’s elementary, we are so appreciative that the Red Flannel Queen and her court come to visit our students. All of our elementary classrooms participated in the community Door Decorating contest, put on the Red Flannel Committee. This year, we are honored to announce that Mrs. Oudbier’s Kindergarten classroom placed FIRST in the competition!
Hardworking Chargers
We imbed the monthly character traits into all that we do here at CTA. For Hardworking, our elementary teachers prepared lessons and activities around what it means to be a Hardworking Charger in and out of school. 5th grade presented a skit modeling different hardworking examples for the whole elementary at assembly. Mrs. Bialkowski was invited to present to 5th graders examples of how the pay of hard work impacts all aspects of life. Middle school students even came to the elementary building in small groups to teach the younger students about what hardworking means to them.
Elementary Staff Learning Lab
On Tuesday, October 22nd, 10 staff members took a field trip to Parkview Elementary in Wyoming to participate in a full day of Learning Lab observations. These are incredibly invaluable experiences for teachers and allow our team to get into other classrooms that are teaching the same math program, so that they can observe, learn and reflect upon their own instructional practices. Mrs. Perry even got a chance to collaborate with a fellow PE teacher! We are so grateful for these opportunities, as they help us continually improve the student experience right here at CTA!
October was a fast and fantastic month here at CTA. With the advent of sunshine and summer-like temperatures for most of the month it seemed to hold off Fall in many ways. At our High School we welcomed several new members to the National Honor Society with a beautiful ceremony that was followed by a taco bar dinner for the students and families to celebrate together. It is always impressive how self-motivated our students are. They do an amazing job of organizing and executing events.
This past Saturday, 19 of our students traveled with Mr. Coplin and Mrs. Cone to Ferris State University for Charter Schools Day. They were treated to getting to watch a football game, a campus tour, as well as a wonderful meal at The Rock. All of our students had a fantastic time and were very impressed with the day.
50 of our students took part this past week in the Student Leadership Summit that was hosted by Cedar Springs High School. There were several school districts who attended from across West Michigan. It was wonderful that we could have representation from both our Middle School and our High School. It was a fantastic day of working, learning, and meeting students from other schools.
We hosted the Schools to Tools group on campus this week and students loved the opportunity to connect and experiment with many hands-on work stations. Thank you to all who participated.
Parent-Teacher Conferences went very well with a large number of participants. Thank you to our parents who were able to attend, we love getting to have personal contacts with our families. At both of our buildings we are moving forward with the State required testing, thank you to everyone for their patience and efforts with these days.
Our Fall sports wrapped up their seasons with Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball competing in their end of season tournaments. Great job to all of our student-athletes and coaches, there were significant improvements throughout the season for everyone. Winter sports will be starting soon, it will be great to come see the Chargers in action.
Go Chargers!
